How To Use Your Shop’s Story To Connect With More Customers

Brand storytelling can help you connect with your clients. It can help you become the go-to shop for all your audiences’ auto performance and restoration needs.

How To Use Your Shop’s Story To Connect With More Customers

Every shop has a story and if you want to connect more with your customers, then telling your story is key to your success.

Everybody loves a good story. Stories entice your audience and drag them in, making them become invested in your company and what you have to offer.

Brand storytelling can help you connect with your clients. It can help you become the go-to shop for all your audiences’ auto performance and restoration needs.

By showing your audience your unique qualities, you’ll build up trust and authenticate yourself as a reliable business within the industry.

But how can you tell your story online so that it not only gets more people interested in what you do but also improves your conversions?

What is brand storytelling?

Brand storytelling is essentially anytime you connect with your audience by showing them:

  • What your brand stands for
  • What your goals are
  • What you’re all about

It involves conversational selling that helps you market your shop positively towards your potential customers without directly selling anything to them.

Shops that tell their story and connect with their audience will get more sales and more clients through the doors. Storytelling has always been an effective form of marketing. It’s worked wonders for advertisements and digital marketing campaigns in the past and it can work wonders for you too.

People like relating to companies and want to connect to the shops they’re working with. Getting a car restored is a personal job, and if you tell your story well, your clients will be more comfortable handing over their ‘baby’ for you to work on.

Your brand story is so much more than just a piece of writing. It’s communication. By communicating the true heart of your company, even those who aren’t your clients yet will get to know your company and want to work with you.

How do you sell your brand through storytelling?

A good story creates a link between your brand and your audience. A well-written one appeals to the emotions within your readers so they start to see themselves within that story.

They start seeing themselves working with you just like your other clients who’ve received gorgeous pieces of work from your shop.

But how do you create the story that will help you improve your conversions and get more sales?

Here are five ways you can sell your brand through storytelling.

1. Figure out who you are

This is the first and most crucial step for an obvious reason - you can’t tell a story if you don’t know what the story is about.

If you’re going to connect people with your words and your brand story, then you have to be able to tell your story coherently.

Otherwise, it won’t make any sense.

This means that you have to avoid making any inconsistencies and plot holes. You have to be sincere and honest with your readers.

Find out what your brand stands for by asking yourself:

  • Who are you?
  • What inspired you to begin?
  • Why do you do what you do?
  • Who do you do these things for?
  • What drives you to continue despite all odds, if any?

When you’ve answered these questions, you’ll be able to start writing your story and authentically show your audience what you’re all about.

2. Know your audience

Learn about who you’re talking to and what they’re looking for with auto restoration and performance.

Find out necessary information like who they are and what they enjoy. By building a customer persona, you’ll be able to know who you’re talking to every time you post about your story.

You should also learn how they consume your content and where they hang out online. There’s no point telling your story on social media if your audience isn’t there.

The more information you can get about your audience, the better you’ll be able to write your story for them.

3. Position your brand correctly

Do you want to be seen as someone who provides solutions?

Do you want people to perceive you as a compassionate brand that always puts customers first?

Then write this into your brand story!

Show your audience that you’re a shop that’s there to give them the best service possible at all times.

4. Be your authentic self

You might be tempted to make your brand the perfect company. A company that’s never made a mistake and is incapable of flaws, but this isn't authentic.

Your customers will be able to sense any inaccuracies and won’t trust your company or your services if you lie to them.
86% of people say that authenticity is a key factor when deciding what brands they like and support.

You should always talk about yourself positively, but everything you say must be true so you can build trust with your audience.  Plus,
81% of people said they have to be able to trust a brand before they work with them.

This will also help you become more human and relatable to them. Nobody is absent of fault, and by meeting your weaknesses head-on, you’ll become a much more reliable brand.

After all, what’s a good story without good character development?

When talking about your business, talk about how it was founded, the struggles you went through, and how it grew to what it is today. Continue with what your clients love about your company and highlight your uniqueness for all to see.

Summarize your story with the value you offer your target audience and why they should choose you over your competitors.

5. Make your story human

The best way to make your story appealing is to make it human.

By showing your audience that you’re just like them, you’ll be able to motivate them to see the people behind your business rather than just the services you offer.

This will create an emotional connection between you and your customers. The more they get to know the real you, the more they’ll feel comfortable working with you.

Show them what you’re passionate about and display the challenges your business had to overcome to become the brand you are today.

To make your story even more human, add case studies or employee stories and highlight them on your website and social media.
